UPGRADING FROM YOGA PANTS TO COMFY JEANS

There is a shift in the trend, according to Canaccord Genuity, a renowned independent financial services firm. We don't see many women in yoga pants at the grocery, having coffee, or going to the malls these days, they aren't actually going or coming to the gym.

The trend has been solid and strong for nearly eight years, and brands of so-called "athleisure" have done exceptionally well. Now it appears that we are reverting to "dressing up" a little bit and returning to denim in all of its forms.

Brands like Lululemon, who recently established a stunning store in the Mall of the Emirates and at Mirdiff City Center, have suffered as a result of this. Majid Al Futtaim is the parent company of Lululemon Athletica.

Denim has been spotted on the runways from Chanel, Dsquared2, Gucci, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Miu Miu, Moschino, Prada... the list is much too extensive to name them all. Basically, all over. Make denim exciting and glam again in every possible cut and fit.

Although we may not be qualified to argue with professional analysts, the truth is that, perhaps because of the UAE's young and athletic population, we do not expect sales to decline. Perhaps we will see how athleisure can be used again when going to the gym or to be more comfortable at home.

Actually, there is a trend in the workplace to work remotely, which means from home, and you don't need to dress up for work anymore. So, while Athleisure may not be as apparent as in previous years, we don't expect sales in the UAE to decline anytime soon.

To demonstrate, Lululemon recently hosted a yoga event at Kite Beach that drew over 700 individuals. Long live the active and healthy lifestyle that Dubai strives for!!
